In a press briefing, French Foreign Ministry detailed that the exceptional contribution was announced on Tuesday in the context of the world health summit held in Germany.
France welcomed the commitment resulting from the forum to raise €2.6 billion to eradicate poliomyelitis.
Expectation is to vaccinate as many as 370 million children annually over the next five years and to control the disease in some 50 nations.
