During his two-day visit to India, Guterres will first be the special guest at an activity on the Partnership between India and the UN and will hold meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, unveiled the international body.
He will also visit a town recently declared the first Indian town powered by solar energy, which has more than 1,300 houses benefiting from solar panels.
Later, the UN secretary-general will travel to Vietnam, where he will attend a ceremony marking the 45th anniversary of the Asian nation’s membership in the UN.
Similarly, he will talk with the Secretary General of the Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Trong, the country’s President, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, and other senior officials.
He will also dialogue with Vietnamese youth before his return to New York on October 23.
