Brazil’s TSE decides to withdraw propaganda against elections

Brasilia, Oct 14 (Prensa Latina) Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) decided to withdraw propaganda that currently appears with offenses against the two candidates who compete for Brazil's presidency in the runoff vote on October 30.

The official website of the TSE mentions former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a candidate of the Workers’ Party (PT), and far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, who seeks a reelection as a candidate of the Liberal Party.

In the lawsuit filed by Lula’s campaign, the court granted a preventive measure to remove the content from Brasil Paralelo company published on Twitter.

By majority vote (four to three), the ruling determines the removal of the video in which the company spreads disinformation after altering the reality of the events related to corruption and affecting the honor and image of the former president.

The exclusion of the video must be complied with within 24 hours under penalty of a daily fine of 10,000 reais (about 2.000 dollars).
