“Unfortunately, the world has become so unpredictable that we cannot trust anyone, so we must worry about our own safety,” Makei said in an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia, published on Friday.

“We have to protect our people and make sure that no occupier sets foot on our land,” said the minister.

“President Alexander Lukashenko held a series of meetings with security agencies, and an anti-terrorist operation regime was introduced, following reports that provocations are being planned, which would involve the occupation of certain areas of our territory,” Makei said.

According to the Foreign Minister, in the current situation, no signal of this kind should go unanswered.

“Thus, the Belarusian Armed Forces, security agencies and special services are ready to respond to any provocation that may come from neighboring countries,” the minister summarized.

President Lukashenko stated at a meeting on October 10th, focused on security issues, that “attacks on Belarusian territory are not only being discussed, but planned in Ukraine”.

He also stated that, although the Ukrainians themselves do not need it at all, they are pushed by third parties to launch a war against Minsk in order to draw the Belarusians into the conflict, “to finish off Russia and Belarus at the same time”.
