Kazakh president said the world is living in a geopolitical storm

Astana, Oct 13 (Prensa Latina) Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Thursday stated that despite the common desire for peace and cooperation, the world is more insecure and is living in an unprecedented geopolitical storm.

This phenomenon defines as global dysfunction, Tokayev said while speaking at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), taking place in Astana on Thursday, Sputnik news agency reported.

The president added that since the previous edition of the forum in 2019, the international community has been facing severe tests whose negative impact continues to affect global development.

I believe that the most important task we face is to achieve sustainability of international relations in the face of unprecedented emerging threats, so giving a new impetus to multilateral mechanisms and resuming an open dialogue is critical.

According to Tokayev, one of the priority objectives is to enhance Asia’s leading role in the global system of international relations.

CICA, founded at Kazakhstan’s initiative in 1992, is responsible for creating conditions for dialogue, decision-making, and implementing measures to ensure security in Asia.
