According to the union, the vast majority of workers agreed to remain on strike in demand of a salary increase, in a conflict that began on September 27th and seems to be spreading, although several signs suggest that an effective negotiation between the energy company and the guild could be close.
Last night, TotalEnergies proposed to the CGT resuming the fuel dispatch on Thursday at 05:00, local time, as a condition for the dialogue, only to be rejected.
The oil company seems to be under pressure, having recognized profits of 10 billion euros in the first half of the year, amid an increasingly worrying strike, with 30 percent of the service stations in the country experiencing supply problems and many of them closed.
The situation in the Upper France, Parisian and Centre-Val de Loire regions is particularly tense, where four out of 10 facilities lack at least one product.
“TotalEnergies must increase wages, it is time to keep its promises”, said this morning the Minister for Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, who went off the Government’s script so far of demanding commitment to the parties, but above all putting pressure on the strikers.
Pannier-Runacher recognized the needs of workers in a scenario of inflation, which has been showing a year-on-year variation of around six percent for a few months, impacting the pockets of the French.
