Santiago, Chile, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) "Cuba is not alone" is the name of a campaign developed by friends of the Caribbean country in Chile on Tuesday to raise money to help repair the damage caused by Hurricane Ian.

“This initiative started from a self-call of friends who in some way have had some kind of relationship with Cuba, some lived or studied there, and also Cuban residents in this country,” Vasili Carrillo, one of the organizers, explained.

The campaign began on October 3 and will run until October 18, although it could last a little longer, Carrillo told Prensa Latina.

The aim is to raise money through a bank account to buy electrical supplies and some materials such as helmets, gloves, switches, and cables, to send them to Cuba in coordination with solidarity organizations in Argentina and Panama, he said.

As part of this initiative, an “activity” will be held on October 15, in which some pieces of work donated for the campaign will be raffled and auctioned.

After its passage on western Cuba on September 27, Hurricane Ian damaged more than 94,000 homes and left the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Mayabeque, and Havana without electricity.
