Syrian Foreign Ministry demands US compensation for oil plundering

Damascus, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the plundering carried out by the United States' occupying forces in Syria's northeastern oil fields and demanded compensation for the losses.

The US military forces’ practices are despicable and real piracy and an attempt to return to the times of colonialism, the Foreign Ministry stated.

It recalled that these actions contradict International Law and the United Nations Charter, and urged the United Nations Security Council to condemn them and end them.

The communiqué demanded that the United States immediately withdraw its illegal forces from Syrian territory and cease its support for terrorists and mercenaries.

Washington must end the occupation and stop using terrorists and separatist militias to serve its agendas and interests, the Foreign Ministry noted.

According to allegations by the Syrian Oil Ministry, the United States and the Syrian Democratic Forces have stolen more than 80 percent of crude oil production, which forced the country to rely on imports to secure its hydrocarbon needs.
