House GOP whip race heats up ahead of midterms

Washington, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) With one month to go before midterm elections in the United States, the race to win Congress looks quite tight between Democrats and Republicans.

Although until recently the Red Party candidates had a clear advantage, some events such as the repeal of the constitutional right to abortion and the legislative successes of current administration have considerably reduced the gap.

Despite this, the Blue Party offensive has stalled, and it is most likely that GOP will win the House of Representatives with 10 to 20 seats, and will also win the Senate, according to The Hill newspaper.

The economy is major concern of most voters, but even though the job market is exceptionally strong, inflation is really the more important issue.

While Republicans are calling for their constituents to look at crime numbers, up 4.3% in 2021, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) data, Democrats are warning about their opponents’ claims to veto abortion rights nationwide.

The Supreme Court gave a big boost to Democrats as conservative justices overturned the ruling protecting abortion, The Hill said.

Meanwhile, GOP are countering Democratic attacks by addressing the crime issue.

Two of the most respected election analysis sources, the Cook Report and Nathan Gonzales’ Inside Elections, estimated that the race for the Congress is at stake with a handful of close races, the source said.
