According to data processed by the Analysis Service of the Central Criminal Police Directorate and disclosed by Romasette on Thursday, these criminal actions increased by 8.0 percent in 2021, compared to 5,789 in 2020.
Police Directorate Chief Stefano Delfini noted the need to prevent and fight crimes, as well as “a synergic action by all actors, institutional and otherwise in support of the victims.”
The crimes of this kind grew by 89.0 percent compared to those committed in 2004, after reporting 3,311 crimes against minors, which illustrates the gradual worsening of this problem, he added.
Mistreatment of family members and cohabitants reported in 2021 affected 2,501 young people, 54.0 percent of whom were girls, with a rise of 5.0 percent compared to 2020, but it grew by 233.0 percent since 2004, the source stated.
In 2021, one-third of the victims of forced marriages in Italy, 6.0 percent were under the age of 14, and 27.0 percent were between 14-17 years, according to the analysis of the aforementioned service.
