The documents previously received the approval of the Constitutional Court and were ratified by the Duma (Lower House of Parliament) on October 3rd and by the Federation Council (Senate) a day later, the TASS news agency highlighted on Wednesday.

The demarcations of the new subjects of the Russian Federation will be determined by the boundaries that existed on the day of their formation and acceptance into the Russian Federation.

Under the Russian law, the election of the heads of the new regions will be conducted by temporary officials appointed by Putin.

Until 2023, it will be possible to pay in hryvnia (Ukrainian local currency), after which the Russian ruble will become the currency in these territories.

The Armed Forces of the new regions, specifically those of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, are supposed to be co-opted into the Russian Army, and legislative norms that contradict the Federation Constitution, including the death penalty, will no longer be applied.

The accession of the republics of Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhie to Russia seeks to guarantee the security of their citizens and stop the attacks that the Ukrainian government carries out with weapons supplied by the United States and NATO.
