An official source reported that the meeting will take place in the state of Miranda.
The ELN delegation arrived in Venezuela last Sunday from Havana, Cuba, where they released a statement, according to which, after four years of non-compliance on the part of the Colombian government with the protocol signed in April 2016, the Dialogue Delegation returned “with security and guarantees”.
It was specified that this was accompanied owing to the guarantor countries of Cuba, Norway and Venezuela.
The statement considers a victory of reason and international law “against the intention of perfidy that the Government of (Iván) Duque sought not only to circumvent the obligations contracted with the ELN, and with the international community.”
The former president also sought to “cause serious damage to the people and to Cuba, as the country that hosts the talks in its commitment to the Peace of Colombia”, it said.
The statement thanked the guarantor countries for “their accompaniment, for their consistent defense of international legal principles and the Republic and people of Cuba for their full hospitality.”
