The prize, endowed with 25,000 euros, certifies the work by Perez, who is barely 23 years old and was born in Santa Clara, in central Cuba.
The jury, chaired by Victor Garcia de la Concha, announced in Madrid the virtues of the winning text, which it described as “a book of carnal love, almost obsessive, that delves into the sexual life of words and enjoys the presence of the amorousness of the body, as an emotional and eternal theme.”
The jury also considered it “a unitary and rhythmic book, a poem in parts, with great expressive fluency and a will to innovate.”
This year, 35 books were finalists among 1,976 entries submitted from 38 countries.
