Beekeepers from central Cuba produce honey for export

Santa Clara, Cuba, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) Beekeeping workers in the province of Villa Clara, in central Cuba, aspire to close 2022 with around 900 tons of honey for export, Alexander Castro, director of the entity, reported here today.

The driver of the Beekeeping Base Business Unit, in this Cuban central territory, pointed out that the collection of honey from bees is an important export item that the national economy needs so much.

Castro explained that, despite the limitations of inputs, especially fuel, the production base has not been neglected and they will do their best in the remaining months of the year to reach the agreed figure.

Likewise, he explained there is an increase in hives and workers destined for the production of organic honey, as well as work on the rescue of productions such as pollen and royal jelly.

He expressed that the diagnosis of silent areas was carried out for the best habitat of the bees and their honey potential, which constitutes a reserve to increase the productive volumes.

‘Advances have been made in contracts with non-state economic actors and in the insertion in the project with the French Development Agency (AFD) for the improvement of beekeeping, actions that patent the 63 and 43 measures for the strengthening of the state company socialist,’ Castro stressed.
