According to a statement from that Ministry, Ausaf Sayeed, Secretary for Consular, Passports, Visas and Overseas Indian Affairs, held talks in Damascus with Fayssal Mekdad, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
Sayeed met with Syria’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Mohamed Seif El-Din as well.
As part of India’s humanitarian and development assistance to Syria, the Second Artificial Limb Fitment Camp was inaugurated in Damascus for the needy people on the occasion of the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
New Delhi also announced 200 scholarships for Syrian students in the framework of the study program for the current academic year.
A total of 1,000 Syrian youth have benefited from the first two phases of the scholarship program.
