According to the information disclosed, the damage in the educational centers in this Central American nation is linked to floods, landslides, and geological faults due to the heavy rains that occurred in the last weeks.
Canal Ocho, associated with the government, reported that the departments with more difficulties in their schools are Santa Bárbara (northwest), Lempira (west), Cortés (north), Ocotepeque (west), Comayagua (center), and Choluteca (south).
Some schools were affected, mainly roofs, walls, and perimeter walls, while other schools were flooded.
Authorities reported that 620 educational centers are available to be used as shelters, which are coordinated through the directors in the departments where rainfall occurred.
In recent weeks, Honduras has been experiencing a complex situation due to heavy downpours that caused landslides, floods, and mudslides in several departments of the country.
