Cuban PM foresees new phase in economic ties in Vietnam

Hanoi, Sep 30 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz said in Hanoi on Friday that the agreements reached during his visit to Vietnam will mark a new stage in the ties between the two countries, particularly in the economic field.

Addressing the Vietnam-Cuba Business Promotion Forum, to which representatives of more than 70 local companies attended, Marrero Cruz commented on important exchanges and the long conversation held with his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh and several Vietnamese ministers on Thursday.

The head of Cuban Government also stressed that his country gives high priority and favors the growing presence of Vietnamese entrepreneurs, and said that the Caribbean nation has strengths that provide a favorable environment to consolidate trade links and investment.

He mentioned the exemplary relations between the two countries, the complementarity of their economies, the existing political stability in Cuba and the skilled labor force it has, as well as the commitment, at all levels, to work to strengthen bilateral ties.

He also pointed out that Cuba has achieved significant control of the Covid-19 pandemic because it has developed its homegrown vaccines, and other economic measures are currently being adopted that could be very attractive for Vietnamese entrepreneurs.

Marrero Cruz also drew attention to the advantages of investing in the island and referred to its strategic geographical location, which becomes an access bridge to the remaining Latin American and Caribbean markets, an area of interest for Vietnam.

The prime minister ended his speech by inviting the participants in the Forum to attend the Havana International Fair, the largest event for trade and business in Cuba, to be held in November, after a two-year suspension due to Covid-19.
