According to Ministry of Health spokesman Emmanuel Ainebyoona, 17 other deaths are under investigation with probable cause of infection, all linked to the initial outbreak in Mubende town.
No Ebola cases have yet reported in Kampala, the capital, but the suspects’ samples are testing at the Uganda Virus Research Institute, Ainebyoona said.
He also noted the tracing of 213 contacts of Ebola cases.
The Ministry of Health called on the residents so they join to the preventive measures and report suspected cases to nearby health centers or authorities.
Last week, Uganda suspended operations at recreational centers and limited the number of people at gatherings to curb the spread of the Ebola outbreak, attributed to the Sudan strain, detected in Mubende, west of Kampala.
