Headed by Wang Yulin, director general of the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean at the CPC Central Committee’s international department, the Asian delegation began its work with a meeting on parliamentary exchanges on Sunday.
At the Rubén Darío hall of the National Assembly (unicameral Parliament) in Nicaragua, Yulin highlighted the importance that the Sandinista Front and the Assembly attach to the bilateral relations with the Asian nation.
He pointed out that the this visit aims to strengthen the mutual understanding and exchange between the Chinese and Nicaraguan parties.
During the meeting, the Chinese representative referred to the timing of the restoration of the diplomatic relations between Beijing and Managua in December 2021 and highlighted Nicaragua’s recognition of the “One China” principle.
“The Chinese delegation considers of high strategic importance the relations between our countries and we will always support the just struggles of the Nicaraguan side, to safeguard the independence and dignity of the nation,” Yulin said.
Parliament Speaker Gustavo Porras reaffirmed the Nicaraguan Government’s position to support the “One China” principle “because we always defend the integrity of our countries and the principle of non-intervention and non-interference in internal affairs.”
