Palestina-Minrex-300x200
United Nations, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian government sought the support of Latin America in the fight for the rights of the inhabitants of the occupied territories and achieve its full membership in the United Nations, an official source reported.

A statement from the Palestinian Foreign Ministry highlighted the meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh and the head of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, as part of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

Shtayyeh requested Mexico’s support for Palestine’s efforts to enter the UN with full rights despite the rejection of the United States, which threatened to veto the project in the Security Council.

Shtayyeh also denounced the escalation of Israeli aggression against the civilian population in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including attacks, colonization, theft of land and the demolition of homes.

According to the statement, Ebrard ratified Mexico’s support for the two-state solution, as well as for the rights of the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riyad Al-Malki, made a similar statement during a meeting with his counterpart from Nicaragua, Denis Moncada.

Al-Maliki praised the historical relations between the two countries and stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Likewise, he thanked Nicaragua for its full support of the Palestinian cause in all international forums.
