Belize´s ambassador in Cuba Lou-Anne Burns said her country really felt the hard feeling of the Matanzas death-dealing fire.
Burns emphasized it´s important for her government and people to say “we are here” with Cuba, even if it is through a symbolic gesture.
The Belize diplomat highlighted the excellent diplomatic relations between both nations, and stressed they are the result of respect and sincere friendship.
The First Deputy Foreign Trade and Investment (MINCEX) Minister Ana Teresita González, on the other hand, thanked Belize for its gesture.
Likewise, González stressed advice offered by Belizean institutions came at a complex moment, aggravated in a fundamental way by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
Ns. González pointed out current national scenario is also affected by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the international economic context.
González highlighted the value of friendly solidarity as the U.S. government keeps unchanged arbitrary measures such as the unjustified inclusion of Cuba on the list of states sponsor of terrorism.
