The National Water Commission (CONAGUA) reported that Newton emerged from Tropical Depression Fifteen-E and is located 280 kilometers southwest of Manzanillo, Colima, and 335 km south of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco.
It warns that the heavy rains will be generalized and intense for Chiapas from 75 millimeters to 150 millimeters, and very heavy for nine other states starting this Thursday.
Those states are Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Tabasco, and Veracruz.
The report warns of precipitation that could be accompanied by electrical discharges, strong winds, and possible hailstorms, and cause landslides, increased river and stream levels, and overflows and flooding in the aforementioned states.
