Barely 24 hours ago, the so-called Public Chamber of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic appealed to the region’s leader, Leonid Pasechnik, with a request to immediately hold a referendum on recognizing the region as part of Russia.
A little later the Donetsk deputies made a similar appeal to the head of that people’s republic, Denis Pushilin, and to the People’s Assembly.
For his part, this Tuesday the Russian Foreign Minister, Serguei Lavrov, pointed out that from the very beginning of the special military operation and, in general, in the period that preceded it, it was said that the peoples of the respective territories should decide their destiny.
And the whole current situation confirms that they want to be masters of their destinies, Lavrov declared, referring to the reports about the upcoming referendums for the accession of the Donbas regions to Russia.
