According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic chief made these pronouncements during talks with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN).
Wang pointed out that the two countries enjoy great trust in each other, close communication at the level of their heads of state and solid friendship.
He expressed China’s desire to further consolidate the ties of friendship with Cuba and thanked for Cuba’s position of unconditional support in defense of sovereignty, territorial integrity and other issues of importance to national interests.
Wang said that China supports Cuba’s efforts to speed up development, protect its independence and make new achievements in building socialism.
He advocated that the two countries advance in the strategic articulation, further promote cooperation in the context of the Belt and Road initiative, and expand exchanges in sectors such as agriculture, tourism and renewable energy, among others.
Likewise, he asked to transform high-level political trust into practical results of cooperation, added the official note.
