More than 400 thousand people visit the chapel of Elizabeth II

London, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) More than 400,000 people paid tribute to Elizabeth II during the four days that the monarch's coffin was in the funeral chapel at the Palace of Westminster, The Sun tabloid reported.

After the closing of the chapel, the coffin of the queen, who died on September 8th at the age of 96 after seven decades of reign, was moved to the Westminster Abbey, next to the seat of the British Parliament, for state funerals.

The ceremony was attended by the new king, Charles III, and the rest of the British royal family, dozens of foreign leaders and royalty from other countries, as well as national and foreign guests.

The government declared a holiday on Monday, with tens of thousands of people stationed in the streets where the funeral procession will pass to Windsor Castle, on the outskirts of London, once the religious service ends.

The funeral of Elizabeth II, who held the longest reign in the history of the United Kingdom, was broadcasted live by the BBC, which said it expected an audience of at least four million viewers worldwide.
