The Indian delegation was led by Foreign Minister, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, while the CELAC quartet was represented by the Foreign Ministers of Argentina, Santiago Cafiero; Guatemala, Mario Adolfo Bucaro Flores; Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Amery Browne, and the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs of Colombia, Laura Gil Savastano.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the revitalization of the bilateral forum, expressed joy at the growing commitments of the Asian nation with Latin American countries, and reviewed the entire spectrum of New Delhi’s relations with the region.
The meeting learned of the progress made towards economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic and it was agreed to work closely in sectors such as trade and agriculture, food and energy security, health, vaccine production, traditional medicines and logistics.
Also, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest were discussed and the two sides recognized their cooperation in the UN and other multilateral organizations, in addition to agreeing to work together on global issues, including reforms of the United Nations and climate change.
