Death toll of landslides in Nepal rises to 22

Kathmandu, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) Nepalese rescue teams fought against torrential rains to remove bodies from houses buried by a landslide that caused 22 deaths and 10 injuries, The Himalayan Times newspaper reported.

The latest calamity occurred in the Achham district, some 450 kilometers west of the capital.

Flash floods and landslides are common in the mountainous areas of Nepal, especially during the annual monsoon rains between June and September.

This year, at least 70 people perished and 13 went missing throughout the country due to floods and landslides, according to official data.
