The ‘Zulu’ port condition was established on Friday night for the seaports of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, which means that there will be no traffic until the atmospheric phenomenon has passed.
Puerto Rico’s ports remained at Yankee condition late Friday night, but the Coast Guard set the highest rating on grounds of the storm’s northward movement.
The storm is expected to approach a few miles south-southeast of Puerto Rico this Saturday afternoon.
Heavy rains in towns in the island’s mountainous center and on the southern coast have caused landslides and road closures despite the storm being far off still.
