The governor of Belgorod, Viacheslav Gladkov, commented that the information on people affected by the attack is preliminary and the material damage is being quantified, the Russian press highlighted on Friday.
Although the air defense stopped most of the strikes, some places in Valuiki were still hit by the fire, and medical assistance is currently being provided to the wounded, Gladkov said.
The official also reported that the bombardment damaged a substation in the city, interrupted the power supply and set fire to eight private homes and three cars.
All emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident and Valuiki’s social facilities will be switched over to backup power sources, Gladkov concluded.
