Syria reports seven dead from cholera outbreak

Damascus, Sep 14 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian Ministry of Health on Wednesday announced that the death toll due to a cholera outbreak rose to seven after the disease spread in the country's different provinces.

During the update on the epidemiological situation, the Ministry reported 53 cholera cases distributed in five provinces; 22 in Aleppo, 13 in Hasakeh, 10 in Deir Ezzor, six in Latakia, and two in Damascus.

The Ministry of Health revealed that four of seven deaths were recorded in Aleppo, two in Deir Ezzor, and one in Hasakeh.

The country’s health authorities announced that specialists and epidemiological investigation teams were mobilized, and all necessary measures were implemented to contain the epidemic.

Syria has been facing an imposed war since 2011 that damaged its health system and caused a deterioration in services, so the health indexes of the population have been degraded.
