The distinction, conferred by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, was delivered by the Permanent Representative of the Antillean nation to the United Nations, Pedro Luis Pedroso, at the headquarters of that legation.
Regarding the delivery, the diplomat pointed out that Bill and his organization are the initiators on US soil of the fight against the blockade imposed by Washington for more than 60 years against the Caribbean country.
Bill Hill, as he is known among those close to him, is the founder of the caravans to the largest of the Antilles together with the late Reverend Lucius Walker.
Gail Walker, Executive Director of Pastors for Peace, participated in the meeting, together with thirty members of the different organizations that make up the movement of solidarity with Cuba in the United States, she limited the information.
On July 25, the Cuban president decorated the Pastors for Peace Caravan with the Order of Solidarity, which was making its twenty-third trip to the island in defiance of the punitive policies of the Washington government.
After a tour of 80 cities in the United States, activists from that country together with citizens from Germany, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom provided the island with material for the medical and educational sectors, two of the hardest hit by US hostility.
