Neither Biden nor Trump for the White House in 2024

Washington, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) More than half of Americans reject that President Joe Biden or his predecessor, Donald Trump (2017-2021), compete for the White House in the 2024 elections, according to a survey released today.

In the investigation by the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University and the Harris Poll company, 67 percent of voters said that the Democrat should not seek to repeat in the Oval Office and almost half considered him to be a “bad President”.

Another 30 percent of those interviewed argued that Biden would be 82 years old if he was sworn in for the second time and considered him “too old for the job,” the report cited in The Hill newspaper indicates.

Meanwhile, 57 percent refuted another possible candidacy of Trump, who on several occasions hinted at his willingness to do so, without confirmation so far.

36 percent of those surveyed described the tycoon as “erratic”, while 33 out of 100 estimate that the Republican will divide the country.

In turn, almost a third pointed to the Republican’s role in the riots of January 6, 2021, when his supporters stormed the Capitol to prevent the certification of Biden’s victory in the 2020 elections and where five people died.

If the two politicians end up in a rematch in 2024, 60 percent of voters indicated the possibility of supporting a moderate independent candidate.

“Americans want a clear change with respect to this president and the previous one,” said Mark Penn, co-director of the inquiry, warning of a possible revolt if these are the candidates once again.

However, if you had to choose only between Biden and Trump, the former president would win with 45 percent of the votes of those surveyed, compared to 42 percent willing to support the Democratic incumbent, the report said.

The poll was conducted online on September 7 and 8 with the participation of 1,885 registered voters.

In recent Politico-Morning Consult research, 70 percent of Americans felt that things in this country are going the wrong way.
