The four-day event, taking place at India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida, brings together local and global stakeholders, including industry leaders, experts, farmers, and policy planners, under the theme “Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood.”
Some 1,500 participants from 50 nations are attending the meeting, the last event of which was held in India in 1974.
New Delhi has taken multiple measures to improve the sector, resulting in a rise in domestic milk production by more than 44 percent in the last eight years.
The story of the Indian dairy industry, which accounts for 23 percent of world production, produces 210 million tons per year, and trains more than 80 million farmers, will be showcased at the Summit.
India became the world’s largest producer of milk due to the collective efforts of small dairy farmers, according to Modi.
