Lapid’s statements reflect the orders given by Israel’s government to its soldiers to shoot to kill any Palestinian citizen, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It also warned that Tel Aviv bears full responsibility for its violations and crimes against the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
“The authorities of Israel provide total protection to murderers and criminals, who are encouraged to carry out more killings, without any scruples for the law, morality or principles,” it stressed.
The Israeli Defense Forces admitted on Monday that there is a “high chance” that one of members killed Abu Akleh during a raid in the city of Jenin in the West Bank.
The journalist was on the field along with other colleagues at the scene to cover the events when she was shot in the head.
The Palestinian Attorney General, Akram Khatib, revealed on May 26th the results of an investigation into the crime. Israeli soldiers shot Abu Akleh as she tried to flee the area, he said. The bullet was fired from a distance of 170 to 200 meters by a marksman with a clear line of sight, he stressed.
