There are discrepancies in many respects. From those who think that acquitting a guilty person is better than convicting an innocent person, to those who think that all, the more than 52,000 detainees, are murderers.
A recent opinion article written by Jaime Ramírez Ortega, Legal and Business Consultant, and published in La Prensa Gráfica, stated that “no honest Salvadoran is opposed to the fight against gangs by all possible legal means.”
The only ones who could oppose it are the gang members’ families, but, he said, I am only referring to the family who fed on this criminal economy and made it a way of life.
The expert presents criteria that affect officials of both previous and current governments, according to reasoning heard on the streets where the population is asking for an end to this scourge, but with respect for rights.
