In its technical report, the Secretariat stated that the disease has been reported in 28 of 32 states, including Mexico, although no deaths directly related to the disease have been reported so far.
It added that 1,678 are suspected cases, 596 of which were ruled out and 294 are under study.
Infectious disease experts continue studying the case of a person who died from septic shock, community-acquired pneumonia, and HIV infection, but lesions compatible with monkeypox were identified during his medical care.
The sample tested positive for the virus, but nothing proved whether monkeypox had caused the death.
Of the total active cases, most have been located in Mexico City (442), followed by Jalisco (127) and the state of Mexico (49).
As of September 5, 788 monkeypox contagions were reported, and the figure of 800 is potentially already reached or about to be reached.
