Similarly, due to inaction, legal systems that do not ban violence against women or protect their rights within marriage and in the family could continue to exist for many more generations.
The document also estimated some 383 million women will live in abject poverty by the end of 2022, and recalled how they lost $800 billion in income during 2020 due to the pandemic.
Other problems faced by women are the overload of domestic and unpaid care work, restrictions on access to safe abortions and food insecurity in conflict zones.
