“We have reported the fifth case of monkeypox in the country, detected in the last 48 hours,” Satdjian said at a press conference.
“The fifth monkeypox case has no relation with the other four cases,” he said, while adding that all those infected are at-home screening and “in good health conditions”.
Three of them, he added, are already in recovery phase, so there are just two active cases.
The second head of the Ministry of Health (MSP) pointed out that the patients are being monitored and the same is popping with their contacts.
Asked when the vaccines the Public Health Ministry announced for specific populations could arrive, Satdjian replied “they are in talks with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to be able to define some parameters of the contractual aspect”.
“We don’t have a specific date at the moment,” he concluded.
