Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry noted that Egypt, as the pro tempore president of the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), will focus its work on the growing challenges that the current global crisis poses for Africa and other developing nations.
Shoukry made the remark at a meeting in Cairo with Khalida Bouzar, director of the United Nations Development Programme Regional Bureau for the Arab States, according to a communiqué from the Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed the preparations for COP27, to be held in the resort of Sharm El Sheikh in November.
Egyptian authorities have had a busy agenda of international meetings for weeks, as part of the preparations for the summit.
