Sources from the Workers’ Party (PT), which da Silva represents as presidential candidate for the October elections, reported that in addition to talking with da Silva, Arce will converse with other leaders of the organization.

Arce will talk with national economists about the so-called Productive Community Social Economic Model, which he established when he was serving as Minister of Economy of former President Evo Morales.

Arce stated on last November in a meeting with leaders of the Central Única de los Trabajadores (CUT) during a brief visit to Brazil, that it is possible to defeat the right-wing coup.

On that occasion, Arce was received in Sao Paulo by the leader of the CUT, Sergio Nobre, in addition to other officials.

During the meeting, Nobre recalled the Bolivian experience of the 2019 coup, which prevented Morales from being reelected. According to him, what happened was a learning experience for Brazil, which saw how the disjointed Lava Jato judicial operation prevented da Silva from presenting himself as a candidate for the presidency in the 2018 elections.

For Nobre, what happened in Bolivia, where Arce won in the first round with 55 percent of the valid votes, could happen in Brazil with da Silva, polls show.

Arce recounted for his part how the socialists managed to defeat the right, despite the persecutions, the support for their opponent from the conservative media, in the name of a supposed constitutionality of the ongoing coup.
