“All of us who are politicians have to be aware of violence triggered by those who do not know how to live democratically,” Lula told the press in the Ponta do Farol neighborhood.
According to Lula, “common sense indicates we should take this as a warning. Common sense points to the need to be alert to what may happen in Brazil”, he reiterated.
He stated that “we have seen every day in the press, we have read, we have seen on TV, an insinuation. And those who make insinuations can fulfill what they are promising”, he warned in an evident allusion to the ultra-right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro, who, he pointed out, “does not talk to certain society sectors such as trade unionists or indigenous people”.
On Twitter, Lula also expressed on Friday his solidarity with Cristina Fernandez, after a botched gun attack. “All my solidarity to comrade @CFKArgentina, victim of a criminal fascist who does not know how to respect differences and diversity,” he live-tweeted.
Lula insisted that “Cristina Fernandez is a woman who deserves to be respected by any democrat globally. Thank God she was unharmed.”
“This violence and political hatred that has been fueled by some, is a real threat to democracy in our region”.
Plus, Lula stated “the criminal author to face all legal consequences” and assured “democrats worldwide will not accept any violence in political differences”.
