“We have closely followed the news and have observed the harassment, persecution, and siege against Cristina, we see the bad intentions by the right-wing, fascist sectors at the command of the US empire, who have tried to position messages of hatred and lies around her image,” the CBYLO statement noted.
The Costa Rican solidarity group published a photo of the Argentine vice-president and the statements she made last night shortly after the assassination attempt on her: “there are people who want to exterminate Peronism and do not tolerate people expressing themselves. Today’s (yesterday’s) violence was provoked by the hatred of Peronist love.”
The CBYLO concludes, “from Costa Rica, we express our solidarity with the vice-president of Argentina, a Latin American and Caribbean partner of struggle, and with the Argentinean people who fight every day for a dignified life in peace.”
Press reports from Argentina refer that a man was arrested on Thursday after attempting to shoot with a gun Vice President Fernandez, who was greeting people who were participating in a vigil outside her home in the Recoleta neighborhood in Buenos Aires.
According to local television, the individual was a 35-year-old Brazilian citizen identified as Fernando Sabag.
Sabag was taken to a police station and the gun is being analyzed by experts.
