The formation of the dance proposal, included in the billboard of the 27th international festival of that discipline, scheduled from October 20 to November 13, responds to a request from the artistic director of the group, Viengsay Valdés.
During a meeting with the specialized press, Lang alluded to the conception of this artistic work as a message of hope and color, in a scenario marked by dark global experiences and described the exchange with the Caribbean group as special.
The specialist from the northern country said this trip “is a great moment in my career of more than two decades” and detailed the incorporation into the stage of the concert for piano and orchestra No.5 in D major, by the renowned composer and teacher Austrian Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The creation involves 24 dancers, equal number of men and women, accompanied by that music, devised by the talented pianist when he was only 17 years old and with an ideal energy and tempo for this piece, specially designed for the BNC.
Lang also appreciated the creative assistance of Kanji Segawa, a former member of Tokyo’s Unique Ballet Theater and a member of its team since 1999, and praised the purity of heart and spirit, talent and love of the island’s dancers in defending the Dance as a universal language.
The acclaimed artist, valued by critics as a master of visual composition, worked for 12 years in different companies until the creation of her own group in 2011 and has a repertoire made up of, among others, the works Thousand Yard Stare, alluding to violence and those affected by war.
Lang’s production has among its most notorious peculiarities, identified by experts, the impressive choreography, sets, lights and generally original music; as well as the mixture of ballet and modern dance in the investigation of the corporeal and movement.
