They ponder in Barcelona the validity of the Cuban Revolution

Barcelona, ​​Aug 29 (Prensa Latina) Outstanding personalities today pondered the validity of the Cuban Revolution, and solidarity against the United States blockade, in a colloquium held here.

The MEP Manu Pineda, documentary filmmaker and social communicator, Ana Hurtado, and the Consul General of Cuba in Barcelona, ​​Alain González, offered their points of view at the meeting held at the headquarters of the European Parliament in the capital of Catalonia, Spain.

Pineda referred to the importance of solidarity with Cuba in these difficult times for its economy, while asking institutions, city councils and all possible spaces to reiterate the denunciation of the blockade that Washington has maintained for more than six decades on the Caribbean island.

Likewise, he spoke out for summoning the youth to join solidarity and friendship activities against a people that suffers the suffocation attempts of a powerful enemy.

In her turn, Ana Hurtado, director of the documentary Herencia, an Andalusian based in Barcelona, ​​stressed that millions of people in the world express their solidarity with Cuba, “we are only giving back everything that Cuba has done for humanity.”

A concept, she emphasized, that was born from the inspiration of historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who educated his people in a spirit of infinite generosity translated into events such as the Operation Miracle (of free eye surgeries) and literacy campaign.

Likewise, Hurtado emphasized the relevance of fighting in social networks within the concept of the battle of ideas to confront the prevailing hegemonic opinion of the corporate media that seeks to distort Cuba’s progress in all areas, with health as a standard.

Consul González detailed some aspects related to the current difficult economic situation in the largest of the Antilles and the values ​​of resistance and perseverance of the Cuban people against the US blockade.

During the activity, a minute of silence was dedicated to the victims of the accident that occurred at the supertanker base in the western province of Matanzas.
