The Paks nuclear power plant, unique in Hungary, was built with the assistance of the Soviet Union.

Located about 100 kilometers from Budapest, in the vicinity of the city of Paks, the plant has been in operation since 1982 and has four VVER-440 reactors with a total power of two thousand megawatts that produce half of the electricity consumed in the country.
