The five best-placed suitors in the survey published on July 28th were invited to the program: former President Lula da Silva, the far-right president Jair Bolsonaro, the former minister Ciro Gomes, the lawyer Simone Tebet and the deputy André Janones, who later withdrew his candidacy.
A draw held on August 1st with party representatives defined the dates and order of the interviews.
Da Silva became president in 2002 with the highest percentage vote in the history of Brazil, a mark still unsurpassed.
He was defeated in three presidential campaigns and acted as the leader of the PT in the Constituent Assembly that drafted the 1988 Federal Constitution.
