Santa Clara, Cuba, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Thursday reaffirmed the Government's will to solve the current energy crisis in the country, which has been affected, among other causes, by long power outages.

During a working visit to El Guajen community, a town in transformation in Camajuani municipality, in central Villa Clara province, the president stressed the need to increase the use of renewable energies such as wind or solar power.

When touring centers of economic and social interest, Diaz-Canel spoke with the population, and called to “resist and create to take away a little bit of the problems every day.”

Communities like this, where education and commitment stand out, are examples for the country, he noted when talking with social workers in El Guajen, which has a population of 570 and is 25 kilometers from Santa Clara, the provincial capital.

As part of his agenda, Diaz-Canel visited the Julio Antonio Mella and Juan Verdecia Credit and Services Cooperatives (CCS), where he learned about successful productive experiences in agriculture and the small industry that makes fruit and vegetable preserves.

At the Vueltas Popular Council, the Cuban head of State talked with local residents and visited the House of Culture, where he was interested in the activities they do during the summer to promote culture in the community.

Diaz-Canel also visited the Jireh-Ebenezer micro, small and medium-sized company, which contributes to local development by producing footwear with high demand due to its high quality.

The president also evaluated the municipal government’s program to use science.

The achievements made in the repair of roads, the initiatives to give added value to local productions, the legalization of houses and the progress in social works, were among the issues verified by the Cuban president.
