Fernando Gonzalez, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), wrote on his Twitter account that Cuba and Puerto Rico “are the two wings of a bird, they receive flowers or bullets on the same heart.”
The ICAP denounced the campaigns of persecution and harassment by agents of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) against the members of the Solidarity Committee with Cuba in Puerto Rico and the Juan Rius Rivera Brigade, who have been subjected to investigations, intimidating acts and phone calls about their solidarity activities. On Twitter, the Institute emphasized the need to “denounce this outrage, which violates the most human elements and is also an act against the Cuban Revolution, to unmask the true intentions of this new and aggressive campaign.”
The Latin American and Caribbean Continental Solidarity Network with Cuba and Just Causes also expressed solidarity with the Puerto Rican brigade and demanded the Biden administration to stop “this attack to the freedom of the Puerto Rican people to express solidarity and friendship with the people and the Homeland of José Martí.”
