For one, the Judicial Power approved in a procedural phase an extensive accusation against Fujimori and 44 accused at different responsibility levels, for the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, money-laundering, obstruction of justice, and process fraud.
After the green light, the case in which the district attorney asks for a 30-year jail sentence and 10 months for Fujimori, entered the phase of substantial control to start next September first.
Among those accused is the U.S. husband of three-time failed presidential candidate, Mark Vito Villanella, who risks a 20-year sentence in jail, as well as former ministers and members related to Fujimori.
The process is referred to as the enmeshment of electoral funds from foreign and local companies, as well as many little funds assigned to Fujimori’s electoral campaigns of 2011 and 2016.
The accusation of attorney Jose Perez is contained in 24 volumes with a total of 4 thousand 753 pages.
On the other hand, the same prosecutor Pérez presented the accusation against the former mayor Villarán for the crimes of illicit association, collusion, money laundering, and falsehood, for which he asked for 29 years in prison for the accused.
Villarán is accused of receiving funds from the construction companies for Fujimori’s campaign against a revocation process -from which she was successful- of the Brazilian companies Odebrecht and OAS, and in exchange, she favored them with additions to the contract for the construction and administration of the toll of a fast road in Lima.
The accusation includes the former manager of the municipality of Lima, José Miguel Castro, and other former officials under her command. Both Fujimori and Villarán served long periods of preventive detention and are free under the obligation to appear before the justice system and not leave Lima, a form of parole.
