The events were held simultaneously, via video links, in the respective capitals; in the presence of South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, along with other high-ranking officials.
The foreign ministers of each country read messages of congratulations from South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In the letters, the two statesmen stressed the importance of the relationship between the two countries and expressed hope for closer cooperation in the future.
The chief of South Korean diplomacy also said that the South Korea-China relations are facing a new historic turning point and called for joint efforts to turn a crisis into an opportunity.
